(March 18, 2007: rock cut churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia.)
After
Beta Maryam, I confess I was getting quite tired and not paying much attention anymore. I think we next went into Beta Qedus Mikael. But it could have been Beta Masqal, Beta Danagel or Golgotha, for all I know.
By this time, one of the other women in the group and I started a playful quest to see if we could snap a photo
before the anachronistic sunglasses were donned by the otherwise traditionally garbed priest. A sensible ploy to avoid the "spots dancing in the eyes" after-effects of numerous flash cameras, it did, however, begin to elicit a bit of the giggles in our hot and weary group.
